Part-Time Teacher (Neuroaffirming, Child-Led Learning Pod)

Location: In-person (exact location TBD – potential for multiple locations)

Hours: 6 hours/week (With potential for 2–5 additional hours/week if open to varying locations)

Schedule: 2 days/week, 3 hours/day (with flexibility)

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate, based on experience 


DIVERG. Programs is creating a community-based learning pod for neurodivergent children ages 5–8. We believe in astrengths-based, relationship-centered approach that honors each child’s autonomy, sensory needs, communication style, and natural developmental pace. Our learning spaces are designed to be rooted in joy, curiosity, and connection.


Role Overview: We’re looking for a compassionate, creative, and experienced teacher who thrives in child-led,emergent environments and has a deep respect for neurodivergent ways of learning and being. This role is ideal forsomeone who values collaborative, hands-on learning and understands how to support developmental growth andautodidact learners without relying on compliance-based methods.


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Co-create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for children ages 5–10
  • Support self-directed learning through unit studies, play, curiosity, and exploration
  • Observe and document learning moments, sensory needs, and areas of interest
  • Collaborate with parents/families and the DIVERG. team to align on learning goals and supports
  • Provide gentle structure and facilitation for group activities (e.g. art, storytelling, sensory play, nature walks, science experiments)
  • Adapt approaches based on individual communication and regulation needs
  • Model and support co-regulation, communication, and autonomy
  • Grow with us as we seek to develop systemized processes, curriculum and a well rounded program that supports both the student and the family


We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with neurodivergent and disabled children, especially ages 5–10
  • Has training in or strong understanding of neuroaffirming, relationship-based approaches (e.g. DIR/Floortime, strengths-based learning, unschooling, child-led pedagogy)
  • Rejects compliance- and behavior-based models and values autistic voices
  • Values creativity, sensory integration, and the joy of learning
  • Able to support therapists and technicians as they seek to support kids day-to-day in this environment
  • Can work independently and collaboratively in a flexible environment
  • Is warm, grounded, patient, and curious
  • Is trauma-informed and attuned to power dynamics and consent in adult-child relationships
  • Is passionate and curious and able to meet kids where they are while honoring their own unique journey


Bonus If You:

  • Have training or background in special education, occupational therapy, developmental psychology, or early childhood education
  • Are familiar with tools like Zones of Regulation, declarative language, or Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS)
  • Have experience facilitating mixed-ability groups
  • Bring an interest in art, movement, nature, music, or other enriching modalities


Additional Opportunities: There is potential for 2–5 additional hours per week if you're open to teaching in additional DIVERG. locations nearby. This can be discussed based on your availability and interest.
